Are you a highly motivated Group Fitness Instructor who wants to help people achieve the results of their dreams? The Capital District YMCA is seeking Group Fitness Instructors across multiple locations who can bring the excitement to every class they teach! The Group Fitness Instructor develops, coordinates and instructs group classes in a dynamic, fun, and positive environment that will accommodate all fitness levels. Our Group Fitness Instructor effectively builds community within the class.
The Group Fitness Instructor preforms the following functions:
Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the CDYMCA mission and goals.
Maintains continuing education around the latest group fitness trends.
Promotes group fitness programs as a brand ambassador to attract new members.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with members creating a community within the class.
Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
Keeps accurate class attendance records.
Follows CDYMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations (weather, closings, etc.).
Maintain cleanliness of the facility as a member of Clean Team.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The Group Fitness Instructor holds the followingqualifications:
CPR, First Aid, AED, and national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, and NASM) in group wellness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification required within the 1st 30 days.
1 – 2 years equivalent fitness experience teaching group classes preferred.
Certification in areas of expertise preferred.
YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
