The Global Lab Informatics Consultant is accountable for delivery and maintenance of Elanco global laboratory informatics systems, including implementation, lifecycle management, and technical support. This role is key to the realization of the laboratory digitalization strategy, and is a global point of contact for site QC labs, Global Quality, and Elanco IT leadership. The primary focus of this role will be the creation and implementation of laboratory operational workflows (e.g. methods) within OneLab, the Laboratory Execution System (LES), as well as the processes and procedures governing them.

Functions, Duties, Tasks:


  • Partner with global QC laboratories to ensure the creation/implementation of analytical method scripts within OneLab to enable efficient testing strategies and operations.

  • Create global governance procedures and processes for the creation and lifecycle management of methods within OneLab, with particular emphasis on global harmonization of processes.

  • Define touchpoints between OneLab and SAP-LIMS, including master data strategy, system interface functionality, and information flow between systems.

  • Deploy laboratory informatics solutions to global QC laboratories.: Establish appropriate timelines, provide routine progress reports/metrics, and escalate issues as appropriate.

  • Interact with project team members, peers and management to establish project priorities and deliverables.

  • Act as a key contact for site leadership and staff to ensure successful deployment of systems, including establishing project expectations, negotiation of resources and elimination of barriers

  • Define and implement support strategy for sustainable lifecycle management of lab IT solutions

  • Collect any key learning from deployment activities to incorporate improvements and best practices into downstream deployments

  • Define, develop, and implement business processes to help ensure most effective use of lab informatics solutions; Refine business requirements in collaboration with SMEs and stake holders as needed to gain maximum value from IT solutions.

  • Comply with all company local and global policies including Quality frameworks, Code of Conduct, Corporate Citizenship, anti-discrimination, harassment, and health, safety and environment (HSE) policies.

  • Perform any other duties or serve in such other capacity as may be determined by Company management.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, information technology, or other applicable scientific discipline

  • Previous laboratory experience, within a regulated environment – exposure to external regulators i.e. USDA / FDA / VMD etc.

  • Strong working knowledge of laboratory operations

  • Demonstrated experience with the implementation of laboratory IT systems/applications

  • Previous experience with SAP QM, and in particular, the LIMS functionality.

  • Knowledge of SAP Master Data.

  • Quantitative analytical skills, creativity in problem solving, and a keen business sense

  • Ability to both lead and support; and a track record of going the “extra mile” for internal stakeholders and his/her team.
