It’s all about variety when you’re a material handler. You’ll load and unload, of course, but you’ll also use a computerized system to track and locate orders and inventory. Mix it up by preparing shipping documents and handling customer orders. Our warehouse is safe and clean because we all work together to maintain our high quality standards.  

We are looking for a full time Material Handler - Floor Operations at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. Garmin’s Material Handlers work to issue and transact material requested through material withdrawal forms as well as receive, transact and sort inbound material. You will pull and audit materials as required for KANBAN, shop order, move order or sales order requirements and replenish material into primary picking locations while maintaining responsibility for following departmental procedures including FIFO and LIFO policies, ESD guidelines for static sensitive materials and complying with Garmin’s Attendance Policy.  Other essential functions also include:


  • Pack materials to ensure adequately delivery to internal and external customers 

  • Responsible to perform cycle counts as required 

  • Ability to operate RF device to transact and move material

  • Must meet quality and productivity metrics

  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment 

  • Comply with all safety standards and policies

  • Ability to accept responsibility for work assignments and job duties and to be held accountable for their successful completion

  • Ability to work variable and flexible hours including overtime. 


Garmin Material Handlers will also cross train to learn other material handler functions and may operate one or two pieces of powered industrial equipment such as a dock stocker or powered pallet jack.

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a High School Diploma or GED. Candidates should also have the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, stand for an entire shift and walk long distances throughout the facility. Other requirements include the ability to read, write, speak English and understand basic math concepts, have strong experience and aptitude with computers, plus the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.  Candidates must be detail-oriented and have the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast paced environment and possess demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 
 
Desirable qualifications include:


  • Previous warehouse or related experience

  • Database experience preferred including Microsoft Excel and Access

  • Previous Oracle or SAP Experience 

  • Experience with UPS, FedEx, Endicia or similar shipping software 

  • Previous International compliance experience including Denide Party List (DPL) screening

  • Demonstrated application of lean practices 


Due to the amount of resources and expense exhausted in training for this position, a minimum of one year from the start of this position will be required before an associate is eligible for a job transfer.
