Summary

The IT Storage Administrator will design, implement, and support all storage systems. He/she will ensure all best practices are implemented to support a mixed Unix, Linux, Windows, and VMware environment. He/she will assist the department in the development and improvement of all storage systems. He/she will ensure that the business group has adequate technology support of those processes and will assist the business group in defining storage needs.

Minimum Requirements

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Education: Bachelor's Degreein Computer Science or related field

Certification:VMware or SAN storage certifications desired (i.e. NetApp, NCDA, EMCTA)

Years of Experience: Minimum four (4) years' experience in designing/supporting multi-vendor storage (SAN) environments

Preferred Requirements

* Strong technical understanding of EMC CX/VNX and NetApp disk subsystems is ideal.

* Broad technical experience in storage (SAN) applications associated with various platforms and VMware's Virtual Center administration in a multi-farm environment.

* Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server products, services and administrative tools.

* On-call and light travel required.

* Expert knowledge EMC and NetApp development best practices

* Excellent understanding of storage design

* Excellent understanding of VMWare storage architecture

Job Duties

* Develop systems requirements, prioritize, and synchronized those requirements to business plans.

* Assist with the planning and management of systems development, testing, controls, programs and projects utilizing best practice methodologies to ensure customer satisfaction, project timeliness and maximum effectiveness.

* Research, define and utilize standard technology architectures to maximize effectiveness and efficiency in deploying storage solutions to include: storage area networks, network attached storage, direct-attached storage, storage fabric, replication devices, caching devices, and related components

* Document and Develop standards/procedures/strategies/scripts that maximize the functionality and reliability of these platforms while minimizing downtime

* Provide technical assistance for application installs for VMware, Windows, Unix, and Linux as needed

* Provide backup and recovery strategies to address application performance issues and advanced VMware and storage platform problem analysis

* Assess technology opportunities and ensure departmental management is apprised of strategy recommendations.

* Design and implement real time detailed monitoring and notification of all storage solutions.

* Ability to take direction and work independently

* Outstanding attention to detail is essential
