Our May Center Schools for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, and our May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders offer full-day, year-round educational services to children and adolescents.

Our schools focus on building communication, social, behavioral, vocational, and academic skills. We base our programs on applied behavior analysis, or ABA, which has been shown through hundreds of scientific studies to be the most effective method to teach children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities.

The May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders successfully educates students with
complex needs and co-occurring diagnoses. These young people often require a combination of physical, medical, cognitive and social/behavioral therapies in an environment that supports skill development and rehabilitation.

Our caring professionals help each child to reach his or her highest potential.





SUMMARY:




The May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurological Disorders located in Brockton but moving to Norwood in November 2021 is looking for aTeacher Assistantto
work in a classroom setting providing services to children and
adolescents with special needs.You will
receive extensive training in using ABA to work with our students and
will learn to implement a student's social, behavioral, and academic
programs. Assistant teachers can participate in research studies and
will work closely with behavior analysts and licensed teachers. This
position is a great steppingstone towards pursuing an advanced degree in
behavior analysis, psychology, or special education and May Institute
will work with you to help you achieve your goals. We provide tuition
reimbursement and loan forgiveness to employees pursuing degrees. In
addition, May Institute has relationships with local universities where
you can earn a master's degree in Behavior Analysis and Special
Education while working with us.




RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in the areas of academics, self-care (ADLs), and vocational tasks.


  • Teach skill development and community integration.


  • Assist individuals in meeting their personal care such as toileting, bathing and assisting with nutritional needs.


  • Assist in behavioral interventions.


  • Participate in the development of IEP/ISP objectives and documenting consumer progress.






QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, or related field preferred


  • Driver's License Preferred


  • ABA experience preferred.
