Overview:

Estimators are responsible for cost estimates for various electrical transmission and/ or substation construction projects. This position is an integral part of the construction process and ensures the company's competitiveness, profitability, and growth.

Essential Functions:

* Prepare complete conceptual, detailed, detailed self-perform estimates for transmission line & substation work
* Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and final submission to the customer
* Choose subcontractors to include in bidding process
* Collaborate with team members (engineering, scheduling, procurement & project management) to prepare bidding documents & the proposal deliverables
* Research and analyze historical project data for application to current project
* Determine constructability requirements and site evaluations via site visits with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel for estimate preparation
* Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency
* Participate in estimate review process with internal and external team members
* Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding of cost estimates
* Includes, but not limited to quantity surveys and cost estimates, subcontractor and vender proposals, research on tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, permits, etc
* Other duties as assigned





Job Requirements


Principal Skills/Qualifications:

* 7-10 years of experience as an Estimator working with electrical construction projects for transmission lines and substations preferred but not mandatory
* Candidate must possess experience in understanding construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates for conceptual, lump sum or unit costs proposals
* Knowledgeable of electrical materials and methods of installation
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
* Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills
* Organized and detailed with ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
* Positive professional attitude
* Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving
* Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish
* Self-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independently

Preferred Education

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience
