Job Description:

RTI's Community Health and Implementation Research Program has an immediate opening for a Bachelor's-Level Public Health Analyst to support our research focused on improving the integration of substance use disorder treatment services within HIV service settings across the US. The position will include a broad range of responsibilities in project administration and research & evaluation. The position requires background or training in one or more of the Program's topical and technical areas of focus, as well as attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to function both independently and in teams.

This position will start out remote until our regional offices fully reopen (tentatively October 1st) at which point the hired individual will need to be able to work in either our RTP, NC office or Berkeley, CA office.


  • Coordinating project communications and meetings, including scheduling meetings, developing meeting agendas, notetaking, drafting progress reports, and monitoring project timelines

  • Conducting literature reviews of published and web-based information sources in support of project tasks and contract/grant proposals.

  • Supporting the development of intervention and training materials, such as manuals, videos, and Webinars

  • Coordination and planning of data collection activities in community and clinical settings, including scheduling survey data collections and observations of program delivery, preparing data collection materials, and contributing to applications for research approval.

  • Assisting in management and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, including use of statistical packages (e.g. Stata, SPSS, or SAS) to complete basic statistical analyses, merge datasets, and clean data.

  • Assisting in writing reports and contract/grant proposals, including drafting report sections, and preparing tables/figures.

  • Traveling to assist with training and data collection.

  • Reviewing and proofing own work for accuracy and completeness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, or related area

  • Training or experience in research methods, and familiarity with statistical packages such as Stata, SPSS, or SAS

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and with teams, and to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of relevant experience (could include internships or undergraduate research assistantships) preferred.

  • Demonstrated interest/background in one or more of the following technical areas: implementation research; data collection, and training/program delivery.
