Position Summary:
The Point of Care (POC) Educator OCED is responsible to develop, deploy, and evaluate training and competency assessments for moderately complex and waived point of care testing, including the collection of quality samples. The POC Educator OCED shares responsibility with the Ancillary Testing Manager to interpret and review the policies and procedures for the training program. The POC Educator OCED serves as a resource to OCED clinicians, educators and OCED management for regulatory requirements, scheduling training, and conducting annual competency assessments. This person will also be responsible for assessing point of care educational needs of the OCED staff working in the laboratory and develop education program to support this unique environment. Work situations require moderate problem solving and analytical skills. This position is an intermediate-level position, working under limited supervision.
Minimum Requirements:
At least 2 years of laboratory training or experience, or both in non-waived testing, in the designated specialty or subspecialty areas of service for which the technical consultant is responsible.
2 years experience in specimen collection including capillary and venipuncture
2 years relevant teaching experience (preferred)
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical, physical or biological science
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT); Medical Technologist (MT, or MLS (ASCP) preferred
