The Detection and Measurement Division of Mirion Technologies is seeking to add an IT Support Engineer to its Information Technology Department located in Meriden, Connecticut.


The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for managing the IT infrastructure for this location. The most important skill is the ability to form, maintain and strengthen office relationships through outstanding, professional and personable technical service delivery. Your personality and demeanor is as important as your technical knowledge and skills. You must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to all levels of the organization from receptionist to the CEO. Being tech savvy is great and we want those skills, but you must come with the ability to relate to real world people as well as system and network assets. We need you to be mature, smart, flexible and people-centric. You need to be capable of working independently among shifting priorities, and you need to know when to call in the cavalry. Being able to recognize, prioritize, plan and execute is a critical skill in this job.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:


Daily Support



  • Responsible for day-to-day operation of IT facilities, applications, servers, workstations, peripheral equipment, mobile devices and phone system

  • Provide PC support to end users. Troubleshoot and resolve all reported issues.

  • Communicate all system related issues to local management, users and other Mirion IT staff as needed

  • Manage Azure Active Directory user accounts, Exchange mailbox accounts and phone system accounts.

  • Manage local data backups for disaster recovery

  • Provide on-call coverage and support as needed. Perform after-hours maintenance on systems, applications, and/or services as necessary

  • Assist other Mirion IT organizational units as needed

  • Work cross functionally with other Mirion organizations, systems engineers, developers, outside consultants and management team members



Systems and Network Support



  • Prepare, design, implement, administer and maintain security-oriented systems and networks including virtual infrastructure, network storage, end-user computing, security remote access, network policy services, wireless authentication and access policies, perimeter security appliances etc.

  • Ensure the performance of the network at a level that supports the business applications

  • Work with ISP providers to maintain network scalability and reliability

  • Monitor and support the local and wide area networks. Experience with Fortigate or Cisco firewalls.

  • Effectively analyze network, systems and data center issues, develop solutions, make recommendations, and implement standard solution; function as an expert resource



Security



  • Responsible for IT security for servers, workstations and networks

  • Administer anti-virus, anti-malware and anti-spam solutions

  • Respond to security incidents and system faults, analyzing and correcting applications or system faults to reestablish service. Execute regular malware, vulnerability and exploit assessment review



Administrative



  • Keep computer equipment, hardware, and software inventoried and updated

  • Select and manage IT vendors, consultants and third-party providers, ensuring contracts are maintained and costs are assessed and analyzed on a periodic basis

  • Provide input to the annual IT budget development process. Prepare cost estimates and budget recommendations. Monitor expenditures.

  • Investigate abnormal conditions, gain control of the situation, notify stakeholders, and expedite processes as necessary

  • Participate in the monthly global IT Governance meeting and collaborate with Mirion corporate and divisional IT support staffs as needed

  • Perform other IT duties/responsibilities defined by the Corporate CIO office

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and services. Participate in IT systems project planning, design, implementation, documentation and maintenance

Requirements/Qualifications


Education, knowledge and skills



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Recent experience with Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365, Azure Active Directory and Intune

  • Certificates in Microsoft and Cisco highly desired

  • Minimum 5-10 years systems and network engineering experience

  • Proven ability to advance multiple high-visibility projects to success

  • Deep experience in Microsoft server operating systems and services including GPO, AD DS, DNS, DHCP, IIS, AD CS, NLB, NPS, WSUS

  • Experience in Windows PowerShell and VB scripts

  • Experience in virtualization operations using VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V

  • Experience in in data communications concepts and operations (Cisco switch, router, ASA, IDS/IPS)

  • Experience in disaster recovery planning, high-availability, backup, recovery and continuity solutions

  • Experience installing and supporting ERP applications (i.e.; MS Dynamics AX, SAP, etc.)

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Experience with antivirus, spam and web security technologies

  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills with the ability to work with users from all levels of the organization

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills



Travel



  • Occasional travel may be required

Qualifications


EducationBachelors of Computer Science (required)
ExperienceMinimum 5-10 years systems and network engineering experience (required)
Recent experience with Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365, Azure Active Directory and Intune (required)
