Job Summary

The Process Engineer will be based at Sheldahl, a Flex Company, in Northfield, MN. You will be part of a highly technical team of process engineers that directly supports manufacturing operations for Sheldahl's Materials business. Your primary focus will be providing engineering support for several manufacturing processes including Vacuum Deposition Chambers & Laminations equipment. This position offers you an opportunity to grow as an engineer while being part of a supportive team.

Here is a glimpse of what you will do…


  • Use your engineering skills to solve complex problems that leads to improved yield for existing Vacuum Coating and Lamination processes

  • Interact daily with production operators and utilize their feedback with the goal of implementing process improvements

  • Use statistical analysis tools to make data-driven decisions when working on product quality improvement projects

  • Work closely with the product engineering team to introduce new products to manufacturing that involve a diverse mix of films and coatings

  • Prepare and maintain technical documents such as operator work instructions and technical reports

Here is some of what you will need (required)…


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field

  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to support production processes that run 24/7

  • Good communication and collaboration skills to interact with diverse engineers

  • Enjoy being on the production floor and working closely with complex manufacturing equipment

  • Statistical analysis tools and/or problem-solving techniques to solve complex problems

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly desirable

  • Experience in project management and leading cross functional teams toward successful project completion

  • Mechanical Design using CAD software such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
