Ohio Department of Public Safety - Information Technology

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Administer the project management program for the Ohio Department of Public Safety and provide functional and technical assistance to Information Technology Professionals through the project life cycle. Interviews stakeholders to determine needs, expectations, project requirements and priorities; define project requirements; facilitates Joint Application Requirements (JAR) and Design (JAD) sessions and creates session notes; documents results from JAR and JAD sessions. Translates customer needs into project business requirements; create business requirements and detailed design documentation; ensures all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and approved; executes project management policies and procedures; defines tasks, their sequence and duration (schedule) within the ODPS business solution framework; assist in the creation of test conditions, test cases and test scenarios; execute test scenarios and document results.

Provide subject matter expertise on assigned IT systems and related processed for each ODPS Division/Business Unit. Document key business process; work with assigned Division/Business Unit to bridge functional and technical gaps between the Division/Business Unit and I.T.; Assist with the management of requests made by customers through the Project Management Information System (PMIS) and general administration of the system; enter and maintain key project information in PMIS; Provide functional administration of PMIS; generate necessary reports and graphs using information entered in PMIS; provide functional assistance to others in the use of PMIS.

Assist with outsourced relationships & vendor activities; create technical statements of work (SOW) for outsourced initiatives; identify key project deliverables as part of the SOW process; provide key input into the Request for Quote process; Perform related duties as assigned (e.g., attends staff meetings, conferences & training; compiles & generates narrative & statistical reports &/or presentations; maintains logs & files; responds to inquiries from citizens, federal & state legislators, client advocacy groups & other interested parties); participates on special projects.

Successful completion of 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned; 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.

-Or 3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project/program &/or position description on file (e.g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal); 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
