Robert Half is seeking a Senior Data Informatics Analyst to be part of the Protiviti Reporting Team. The Team is a business-based Business Intelligence support hub for Protiviti reporting services and analysis. The Protiviti reporting department is responsible for producing and distributing operational and management reports to FSC, Finance Leads and Corp Accounting Team. This includes reconciliation of transactional data interfacing to the Protiviti reporting environments, researching and servicing customer inquiries.
Specific responsibilities include:
Manage BI Tools/Systems
Develop architecture/implementation plans for Business Intelligence projects.
Manage/maintain business security model, ensuring that access to data systems are granted to authorized individuals only. Provide Security changes as needed
Participate in the selection and testing of new BI technologies, including proof of concept and comparison analysis
Provide system-level support and expertise
Validate Installation, patching, & configuration of BI environment, ensuring that customer base can effectively use the tool
Develop standards and guidelines for the effective and efficient delivery of enterprise BI, including operational reporting, dashboarding, and business analytics across the spectrum of descriptive to prescriptive
Monitor BI application, ensuring that services are running and performing optimally and that production certified content is running as planned
Perform technical and advisory functions in the development of BI system architecture and the creation of semantic models for reporting, dashboards, delivery and scheduling.
Migrate developed content to various environments and maintain order in production environment (organization, scheduling, etc.)
Ensure by working with IT that BI systems are kept current with patches and updates, and inform the analyst community accordingly
Maintain data source connectivity through ODBC/JDBC configurations
Publication/Distribution Configuration Updates
Review report designs and recommend solutions for performance optimization
Strategy / Business Development/Consulting / Support
Partner with field/business/IT teams to understand data/reporting needs
Test designs and coordinate content migration to production following thorough testing and UAT; Influence the schedule and timing accordingly
Develop the strategy for working effectively with other business units to build and iterate on semantic model designs
Troubleshoot existing reports/dashboards and optimize performance through analyzing the design, generated SQL, and assessing database performance
Use experience and expertise in data sources to recommend database level enhancements, for consideration in Data Strategy discussions
Institute processes for effectively managing change for BI Analysts and promoting content to various environments
Effectively anticipate how business users will interact with semantic model, and build accordingly for maximum user adoption
Communicate updates to customers and managers regularly, informing of progress and/or resetting expectations accordingly
Develop the strategy for effectively managing the BI environment for multiple customers across field, business and IT verticals
Envision new ways to utilize and promote BI technology across the company
Develop automated reporting and dashboard solutions for customers using BI intermediate/advanced tools
Business Intelligence Configuration, Support and Data Modelling
Analyze new/existing data sources and determine most efficient table relationships (evaluating primary keys and indexes) and model in semantic modeling tool (Universe Designer) for ease of use by business users
Integrate data structure and business rules into common semantic model, allowing business users to pull data from a common definition
Partner with business data owners to define metrics and maintain data definitions on-going
Implement and maintain data governance employing Master Data Management methods
Regularly evaluate semantic models for improvement
Determine appropriate user cases for compatible query mode versus dynamic query mode
Evaluate opportunities for data improvements, recommending summary tables, materialized views, cubes, or separate data marts to data services partners
Assist in the ongoing development of technical best practices for data movement, data quality, data cleansing, data security and privacy.
Subject Matter Expertise (SME) / Training / Mentoring
Advanced knowledge of BI architecture and tool sets
Provide as-needed development support and mentoring for field/business/analysts
Organize an Analyst Community and hold regular forums to discuss successes and challenges, and inform of new product enhancements
Advanced Analytics
Understanding of new and advanced analytics including various tools Business Objects Lumera, Tableau, Domo, Cognos and Power BI
Participate in the selection and testing of new advanced analytics tools, including proof of concept and comparison analysis.
Assist in designing the dashboard solutions including KPIs, drill-down capabilities for customers using BI advanced analytic tools.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science, with focus in business analytics; or equivalent relevant experience. Master’s degree a plus
5-10 years’ experience working with large data sets from complex reporting platforms, including Oracle, and SQL Server
5-10 years using business intelligence development tools to solve complex business problems (e.g. SAP Business Objects, Cognos, OBIEE, MicroStrategy)
-3 years Business Objects Universe/Designer experience preferred, including experience building complicated business semantic models, using both optimized (star schema) and non-optimized (transactional) data sources; using conformed dimensions, dimensional modeling, dynamic data functions (date/time), and embedding data definitions
-3 years SAP Business Objects Administration experience preferred, including user/security management
Proficient in writing and interpreting SQL
Solid understanding of business report development process and SDLC
Proficient in standard business applications, (e.g. Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated subject matter expertise in several functional business areas
Solid understanding of business processes, strategies, and key revenue/margin drivers
Knowledge of financial accounting concepts and SOX controls is a plus
Ability to interact and communicate with customers of varying levels of expertise
Ability to communicate complex technical information to less-technical users
Ability to communicate in-depth business processes to technical resources
Ability to create very complex process flow diagrams or flowcharts that demonstrate business or system process flow
Ability to gather requirements effectively; document requirements and confirm observations with business owners.
Ability to perform fit/gap analysis based on requirements.
Ability to create detailed and complex test plans for medium-sized initiatives.
