Engineer I, Projects

Summary -
This Project Engineer I is responsible for processing and managing customer account projects in the Springfield Oregon Roll shop; the engineer is a problem solver and provides design and technical support of projects from inception through production, to completion.
Responsibilities -
Project Manager
Effectively support customers by managing customer projects from initial quotation through project completion
Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have.
Prepare proposal quotation and documentation.
Prepare technical data such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, component maintenance manuals, etc.
Facilitator
Perform liaison function between engineering and all mechanical services operations for any related issues, problems or improvements.
Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to company.
Coordinate as required with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales, production, accounting personnel, metal finishing and assembly.
Engineering
Generate and update process documentation; work Instructions, flow charts, etc.
Review customer source control drawings, specification control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of the component.
Perform all necessary calculations such as stress analysis, performance analysis, and pressure drop and flow analysis, etc. as required.
Interact with mechanical personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regard to company products.
Participate in engineering and general design review as required.
Prepare preliminary design proposal(s).
Health Safety and Environmental:
Demonstrate safe behavior, make safety observations and support safety initiatives
Provide support for safety investigation RC/CA
Quality:
Assist in root cause investigation, and follow up on corrective actions
KPI analysis, and tracking of corrective actions
Operations Excellence:
Promote lean culture throughout the facility
Support OPEX events
Support KPI analysis, and tracking of corrective actions
Qualifications -
Bachelor of engineering degree from four-year accredited college or university. Or a combination of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of college degree.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment a plus
The project Engineer II receives instruction, guidance and direction from others with limited supervision.
Project management experience
Proficient with computers applications MS Office suite, CAD, including electronic document control and distribution
Excellent interpersonal skills. Can communicate effectively with other engineers, customers, shop floor team members etc.
Experience working with automation and robots is a plus
Experience working with CMM is a plus
Basic knowledge of Quality systems is a plus
Knowledge and experience applying Lean tools is a plus
Capable of teaching and coaching other team members
Six Sigma certification is a plus
CWI certification is a plus
Exceptional multi-tasking skills and ability to independently manage multiple tasks.
Ability to troubleshoot as necessary to achieve swift and accurate project results.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, across different levels of the organization.
