Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.
A Day in the Life
Monitor current market conditions, technology roadmaps and identify supply/demand challenges & opportunities to drive the commodity strategy and supplier development.
Analyze current spend and evaluate current suppliers.
Drive supply base consolidation and develop alternate sourcing proposals to generate cost-saving opportunities and improve commodity scorecard.
Manage team members in the creation & execution of action plans as required to successfully qualify new supplier solutions and ensure successful manufacturing transition
Reach out to site tactical supply chain teams to ensure coordination & collaboration for successful implementation of sourcing strategies & initiatives
Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers.
Work in conjunction with the Global Electronic Commodity teams to identify synergies across business units and regions that can be leveraged for the benefit of Automotive North America.
Support advanced procurement in all RFI's, RFP's and RFQ's initiatives related to commodities
Drive price negotiations processes to ensure that commodity pricing is best in class.
Drive continual cost reduction and headwind avoidance initiatives through ad hoc price negotiations.
Drive VA/VE activities with engineers and suppliers to achieve cost reductions and quality improvements.
Manage respective supplier relationships and performance, including but not limited to dispute resolution. This includes inventory management, lead-time reductions, lower total cost of ownership, and quality assessments.
Ensure that supplier delivery and quality expectations are met via partnering with quality to develop proper product specifications/supplier quality systems.
Generate monthly scorecards for chosen suppliers and lead projects to drive performance improvement.
What your background should look like:
Working knowledge of market analysis, sourcing strategy, supplier relationship management, and negotiation strategy
Strong skills in MS Excel with capability to develop models leveraging several data sources
SAP Experience is highly desirable
Essential negotiation and leadership skills
Team player with goal-oriented attitude and results driven
Critical thinking and problem-solving mind-set exhibited through internal or external negotiations
Ability to lead and influence peer groups on difficult complex strategy and negotiation recommendations
Organizational and analytical skills, highly motivated and able to work under pressure.
Exceptional communication both written and oral
Willingness and availability to travel
Bachelor's Degree in Business (focus Supply Chain), Engineering, or equivalent required
Extensive and relevant experience of at least 3 to 5 years in Sourcing / Procurement roles.
