RTI International is actively seeking a proven leader with an entrepreneurial frame of mind and experience creating, managing and growing a portfolio. The Vice President, Global Health will be responsible for leading strategic planning, portfolio management, new business development, and technical and research development, scientific stature, and general management of the Global Health division within RTI's International Development Group.

RTI's Global Health division focuses on strengthening health systems, controlling and eliminating neglected tropical diseases, improving reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, addressing the global burden of noncommunicable diseases, and supporting programs to combat malaria, HIV and other infectious diseases. We incorporate learnings from monitoring, evaluation, and operations research to refine and improve the effectiveness of our programs. Essential Duties:


  • Serve on the International Development Group Executive Leadership Team, led by the Executive Vice President, bringing a strong vision and strategy for Global Health Division (GHD) growth and sustainability.

  • Oversee the Global Health growth targets, business development strategic management, and expanding technical areas; ensure it aligns with overall IDG business unit plan and business development strategy.

  • Ensure business decisions align with the IDG and GHD strategic plans and market opportunities for growth, client response and impact of RTI's mission.

  • Oversee the GHD project portfolio ensuring performance excellence and high levels of client and beneficiary satisfaction; Represent IDG's Global Health division to clients and stakeholders globally.

  • Work collaboratively as one team with IDG's Business Partners and Operations management to support and leverage portfolio for successful implementation.

  • Support professional development and one team approach for all staff. Ensure a culture of belonging and inclusivity is prevalent.

  • Provide day to day general management and oversight of the Global Health division to include managing personnel, finances, intellectual capital, and other general management activities.

  • Liaise with other industry leaders on trends and issues as they arise that are pertinent to RTI's lines of business.

  • Conduct robust external marketing and networking to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with other development assistance organizations and donor implementing partners.








Typical Education & Experience Requirements

Job Requirements are a combination of qualifications and related experience. Judgment of an acceptable equivalent combination, on an individual basis, is the responsibility of Management.


  • Bachelor's Degree and 20 years of experience, Master's degree and 16 years of experience, PhD and 12 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Abilities


  • Proven management and leadership experience within the USG international development sector.

  • Excellent business and general management skills, including the ability to create a highly effective/efficient and successful team working atmosphere.

  • Ability to successfully balance a multitude of demands including strength of the Institute, client requests, IDG business units and the Global Health Division when making critical business decisions.

  • Ability to hire and manage diverse teams, mentor and grow staff, and establish a culture of inclusivity and belonging.

  • Extensive experience leading the development of successful technical proposals.

  • International field experience working in developing countries.

  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and understand issues, root causes and opportunities from disparate sets of information and provide clear conclusions and guidance.

  • Strong track record of success in growing businesses in a multinational context.

  • Ability to lead, inspire and mentor staff; delegate effectively and develop leadership skills of others within the organization.

  • Entrepreneurial frame of mind and/or experience creating and growing a portfolio.

  • Possess the highest level of integrity and trust.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage in a matrix organization environment with multiple clients and stakeholders.

  • Ability to travel internationally for extended periods as needed.

  • Proficiency in French, Spanish and/or Arabic preferred.
