Shipping Clerk

SUMMARY:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the inspection and loading of finished goods. Will also be responsible for unloading raw goods that are used for finishing or yarn department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Will be required to do a forklift inspection daily.


• Must inspect all goods before loading for accuracy and overall integrity of pallets.


• Enter data into the system that supports goods that are being loaded.


• Inspection of containers being loaded.


• Must maintain accurate paperwork of all inbound and outbound shipments


• Communicate with both Clinton and Fort Payne DC's


• Unload materials that support the running of the mill (cartons, packaging, etc.) as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

• Will be required to undergo forklift certification


• Basic education in reading, writing and mathematics


• Requires good communication and organizational skills.


• Must be able to multi-task to ensure the jobs are completed.


• Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.


• Computer skills a must

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Regularly lift 30-50 lbs.


• Requires being on and off forklift constantly throughout the day.


• Moderate exposure to heat in summer and cold in winter

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to move between departments to interact with others. Consistent daily attendance required; occasional off-shift support and limited travel required.
