Eskenazi Health is seeking a Corporate Controller, for all Eskenazi Health Centers. The Corporate Controller directs the finance department and broad-ranging financial functions for Eskenazi Health and is directly responsible for the leadership and oversight of the accounting and financial reporting activities and teams across the health system. This individual will ensure there are adequate internal controls over the financial reporting process along with keeping abreast of accounting standards to ensure that the health system is in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.


The Corporate Controller will develop effective processes and practices to ensure high-functioning finance teams, including ensuring continuous improvement by establishing goals, ensuring accountability, and developing team members.


This individual will also be responsible for the monthly close including the issuance of consolidated financial statements with the appropriate inter-company eliminations and supporting narratives. In addition, the Corporate Controller is also responsible for coordinating all aspects of the interim and annual external audit, as well as serving as the primary advisor to evaluate accounting issues that impact the organization. The Corporate Controller will review recent trends and develop projections that provide insight and recommendations to senior leadership, committees, boards, and external partners.


The Corporate Controller will serve as a strategic partner to Eskenazi Health leaders and is responsible for understanding all relevant business issues and significant risks impacting the financial reporting processes of the health system. This individual will work across the health system to develop and manage operational and capital budgets, and will partner with leaders as they work to achieve financial goals.




The Corporate Controller will have the opportunity to:






  • Plan, organize and direct the Accounting Department's responsibilities including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Grants Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Revenue Recognition, Financial Reporting and General Accounting.

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and narratives on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, in accordance with GAAP.

  • Provide financial leadership to health system leaders that create ownership of goals and encourages active participation in decisions that impact the organization.

  • Enhance annual budget planning process to ensure organizational insight and performance metrics are incorporated to streamline the planning process. Facilitate budget review processes to understand operational decisions' impact on the financials.

  • Monitor and manage cash flow and bank balances, making decisions or recommendations regarding fund transfers and ensures effective utilization of cash balances.

  • Oversee the audit process and filing processes for lenders, government agencies and external auditors.

  • Lead 5-year planning efforts for operational and capital budgets. Develop, evaluate, monitor and communicate long- and short-term financial objectives and metrics ensuring consistency and alignment with overall strategic goals and objectives.

  • Recommend technology upgrades and vendor engagements to integrate financial systems and improve organizational accountability and controls. Represent finance in ERP and other system upgrades/development and integration. Participate in upgrade of financial information systems, playing an active role in system-wide task forces.





Qualified candidates will have:




• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university; MBA preferred
• 5+ years' experience in a senior-level or finance leadership role
• 10+ years' experience in healthcare strongly preferred
• Progressive management experience, with emphasis on finance strongly preferred
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
