Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for all types of emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. We offerboth inpatient and outpatient services in multiple locations throughout the city. Our primary mission is to serve individuals with serious mental illness, chronic addiction and seriously emotionally disturbed children and their families. Patients of all ages are welcomed, from children to seniors, with a philosophy of care that stresses strength-based and family- and community-centered treatment utilizing the Recovery Model of treatment.


There is no health without mental health! Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Centeris seeking a Clinician who will demonstrate understanding of and ability to implement a strengths-based, community treatment model while embracing, understanding and operating under the Recovery Model, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You) and the spirit of motivational interviewing. Clinicians are located through the 9+ program offerings that are offered to ourpatients; ranging from both in-patient to out-patient services. The following program coverage areas are:





  • Children and Adolescent Services:

    • Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Children's Services are based on industry best practices and evidence-based principles such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child Parent, Psychotherapy, and Motivational Enhancement Therapy/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.All staff involved in the programs are highly qualified and receive ongoing training to ensure the best quality of care is being provided. All staff members receive a high degree of clinical supervision to ensure the treatment being provided produces positive outcomes and program fidelity. Services are provided in settings such as home-based, office-based, school-based and WRAP Services.




  • Adult Services:


    • Adult Outpatient:Adult Outpatient focuses on treating the whole person and helping clients integrate into society. Convenience is key for individuals struggling with mental health concerns and this program seeks to serve them close to home with community mental health centers and Eskenazi Health Center sites throughout Indianapolis. Services include case management, individual and group training activities for daily living, individual and group therapy, full psychiatric nursing services, psychiatric evaluation by providers and expressive and art programs.


    • Older Adult:The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Older Adult Services (OAS) program provides mental health services to Marion County residents 60 years and older who have a serious mental illness or challenge with addictions. Clients may be seen at the1700 N. Illinois St.location or seen at nursing homes, retirement homes and assisted living facilities. OAS staff includes psychiatric clinicians, nurses, care coordinators, support specialists, nurse practitioners and psychiatrists.The philosophy of treatment is based on the Recovery and Strengths treatment models in which individuals are evaluated in the context of their strengths and supports. Treatment is individualized and clients may benefit from evidenced-based practices such as the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the PEARL program, which offer specialized treatment for depression. Case management and skill building training is offered to individuals who may not benefit from traditional therapies. The goal of treatment is to keep the older adult as independent and as well as possible.


    • Adult Addictions:Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Adult Addiction provides outpatient care and treatment for clients with addictions to drugs, alcohol or gambling.Our fully integrated, dual-diagnosis treatment includes services for clients with addiction and mental health issues with treatment focusing on the fundamentals of recovery, development of recovery plans and relapse prevention. Individual, group and family therapy along with case management services are also provided. Psychiatric services are provided by our addiction psychiatrists and our multi-disciplinary team works together to offer clients a combination of therapies and medications to support recovery and promote overall wellness.




  • Young Adult Services:

    • Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Young Adult Services focuses on delivering mental health and substance use services without the stigma or stereotypes that can be associated with these symptoms.Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Young Adult services can assist with a variety of mental health and substance abuse problems.


    • PARC:The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health CenterPrevention and Recovery Center for Early Psychosis (PARC)serves Indiana as a center of clinical, research and educational excellence in the treatment of individuals in the early stages of schizophrenia and other psychotic illnesses. Founded in 2009, PARC is a full-service clinic for young people who are at the very earliest stages of a psychotic disorder. PARC also serves as a research center to improve therapies and outcomes. The PARC program serves clients ranging in age from 16 to 30 who do not have a previous history of psychotic disorder. PARC is staffed with Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry physicians, master's prepared therapists, a nurse and a pharmacist.




  • Acute Services:


    • Mental Health Recovery Center:The Kathi & Bob Postlethwait Mental Health Recovery Center is an inpatient facility for individuals with serious mental illness who require the safest possible environment for their recovery. The center is a safe area that respects the autonomy of each patient as much as possible. Staff members are aware of the challenges and misperceptions that can accompany a diagnosis of mental illness and therefore acknowledge this sensitivity by providing treatment in an environment that upholds patients' rights and dignity. The center's multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, medical students, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and occupational therapists provide care to more than 800 patients each year. Team members meet regularly to discuss each patient's care and individual needs, encouraging independence and self-care whenever possible.


    • Crisis Intervention Unit:The Crisis Intervention Unit provides emergency psychiatric services in a manner that is person-centered and strength-based, as well as timely and efficient.It operates within the Administrative Directive Standards for 24-hour Crisis Intervention set forth by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions. Clients are seen at the walk-in clinic from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis by a crisis clinician. Exceptions are patients who present threats of harm to self or others and those who are triaged to be seen sooner. From 8 p.m. - 8 a.m. emergency psychiatric services are provided by Eskenazi Health crisis specialist clinicians in theMichael & Susan Smith Emergency Department.Clients are also seen via consult requests from theMichael & Susan Smith Emergency Departmentand other medical units within the hospital when requested.




  • Support Services:


    • Residential Services:Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Residential Services offers avariety of housing with supportive services based on the individual needs of the resident.All sites offer residents support, education, case management, skill training, individual therapy, group therapy, nursing services, and psychiatric services. The qualified candidate will:



  • Possess a Master's Degree in Social Work

  • Candidate must be eligible for Indiana State Licensure or possess full Indiana State Licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LCAC)

  • Valid Indiana Driver's License that meets Eskenazi Health's Driving Policy requirements
