Job Highlights:



SSM Health is currently seeking a full time outpatient Child Psychologist to join our experienced and cohesive behavioral health team consisting of 14 Psychiatrists and about 40 Psychotherapists (Masters Therapists and Psychologists) focused on providing quality mental health support to our child and family patient panel in an outpatient clinic setting. Our Child Psychologists should be comfortable working with children ages birth to adolescence. The ideal candidate has experience with differential diagnosis, testing, treatment planning, along with family, group, and individual therapy for a wide range of neurodevelopmental, emotional, social and behavioral concerns. Experience with autism is ideal for this role.




  • Monday through Friday workweek

  • Shared telephone call coverage rotation nights/weekends

  • Based in Madison, WI

  • Guaranteed salary first year

  • Patient population ages birth to adolescent

Requirements:



  • PHD or PsyD in clinical, counseling, or psychology

  • Active state licensure by the Psychology Licensing Board

  • National Register for Health Service Providers in Psychology

  • Training and experience in use of empirically age appropriate, validated screening and testing instruments to assist with differential diagnoses.

  • Preferred: Experience in the area of Pediatric Health Psychology or Pediatric specialty areas of practice.

  • Autism experience highly preferred

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assesses a patient's psychological status and provides appropriate interventions and treatments.

  • Collaborates with nursing and ancillary services to provide appropriate psychological therapy for patient. Refers patients to other disciplines for consult and evaluations as indicated.

  • Provides psychological expertise and education to multidisciplinary team. Acts as resource to other disciplines.

  • Communicates complex/sensitive information to patients and medical team.

  • Administers and interprets psychological tests used for diagnosing mental and personality disorders and differentiating between organic and functional cases of behavior disorders.

  • Carries out ongoing record keeping and case review of all psychotherapy work in compliance with State guidelines.

  • Provides assessment (by telephone and in person) of suicidal and homicidal risk and immediacy of crisis situations.

  • Provides a continuum of short and long term psychotherapy to individuals, couples families and groups, based on individualized treatment plans.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



EDUCATION


  • Ph.D or Psy.D in Psychology or related field

  • Frequent reaching, sitting, standing and walking.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
