Position is responsible for the review of University Building Projects for compliance with the Florida Building Code. Conducts review of construction documents and construction inspections of University Building Projects for Compliance with Florida Building Code.
Acts as assistant to the University's Building Official in the accomplishment of the mission of the Building Code Administration section to ensure that construction, and maintenance activities on University facilities comply with the appropriate regulations.
Performs supervisory activities of BCA sections staff to include coordination of daily work efforts, educational opportunities and requirements.
Interacts with all construction project team members (University Project Manager, Design Professionals and Contractor and Sub-Contractor personnel) to ensure compliance with Florida Building Code is maintained.
Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures associated with the activities of the Building & Fire Safety sections.
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and seven years of experience related to the duties of this position.
(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to seven years of experience related to the duties of this position.)
Possess or will obtain within 120 days of employment standard or provisional State of Florida License as Plans Reviewer & Inspector in two disciplines (Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical) in accordance with FS 468.
Possess or will obtain within one year of employment State of Florida Building Code Administrator License.
Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
Ability to conduct audits and investigations.
Ability to provide leadership and direction in programmatic, budgetary, and operational functions.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology in designing, estimating, planning, and inspecting construction projects and managing project schedules.
Knowledge of emergency communications and hazard response practices, procedures, and protocols.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain upon hire.
