Admissions Coordinator

Work Performed

Reception area position. The Admissions Coordinator is the public face for the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, and Diversity Initiatives. As the initial point of contact for prospective and current students, the Coordinator must present a high level of professionalism, equanimity, customer service orientation, and maintain our professional physical space. The Admissions Coordinator must be able to work independently, learn quickly, and should be interested in becoming proficient with respect to the operations of the Law School.

Work Schedule and Reporting Relationship

Non-exempt; full-time 40 hour/week; 52 weeks/year position. The Admissions Coordinator is an integral member of the Admissions, Financial Aid, and Diversity Initiatives offices, reporting to the Assistant Director of Admissions for Operations.


  • Reception: Answer large numbers of questions in person, over the phone, and on email from prospective and current students about the Law School and the admissions process.

    • Maintain professionalism

    • Greet visitors, answer questions, and provide material requested.

    • Ensure adequate supply of informational material is always available in the office and at the third-floor reception desk.

    • Answer office phones.

    • Ensure the reception area maintains a professional look and feel.

  • · General administration: Quickly develop a broad knowledge of programs and activities. Provide administrative, clerical, and similar support of a complex and confidential nature consisting of:

    • Support the function of the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, and Diversity Initiatives operations at the Law School.

    • Provide support for the Senior Director of Admission in running daily admission reports and conducting appropriate follow-up

    • Work with staff members to plan and implement projects, programs, meetings, and events (including room reservation, catering, etc.).

    • Facilitate office efficiency, oversee outgoing and incoming mail, respond to or refer calls and retrieve office voicemail messages when needed.

    • Set up appointments, monitor and update staff Outlook calendars.

    • Coordinate registration, payments, and material shipped for various recruit events.

    • Perform data entry for visitors, admissions inquiries, and recruit event attendees.

    • Run reports

    • Coordinate scheduled mailings for prospective and current applicants.

    • Attach documents to applicant records electronically.

    • Assist with managing campus visits and Law School tours.

    • Participate in activities involved in the recruitment of applicants.

    • Serve as back up for the Assistant Director of Admissions for Operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Training

Work requires a broad knowledge of clerical and accounting principles and practices normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education in secretarial science or a related business field.

Preferred Education

B.A. or other undergraduate degree.


Work generally requires three years of related secretarial/clerical experience to become competent in the administration of complex office functions related to office organization and management, communications, and budgetary/accounting activities. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Demonstrated customer service orientation, initiative, and ownership skills are all essential.
* Attention to detail.
* Mastery of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word.
* Comfortable being the "go-to" person for substantive questions.
* Must be able to learn various software programs quickly.
* Must be able to lift bulk mailings of 40+ lbs.
