Job Description:

The Red River Software Specialist will be responsible for supporting the sales organization in quoting and closing software agreements. They will also help to grow the Microsoft business by identifying and developing new business. A thorough knowledge of Microsoft's partner programs and licensing is required. The ideal candidate will have and maintaining knowledge of Microsoft software products, complementary partners, competitors, key differentiators, and value statements. This position requires sales and some technical background, with an emphasis on supporting licensing activities. To effectively support and grow the software business, the Software Specialist will need to work with many teams within Red River to be successful, the Sales organization, as well as our Managed Services, and Consulting Services team.



Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will have and maintaining knowledge of Microsoft software products, complementary partners, competitors, key differentiators, and value statements. This position requires sales and some technical background, with an emphasis on supporting licensing activities. To effectively support and grow the software business, the Software Specialist will need to work with many teams within Red River to be successful, the Sales organization, as well as our Managed Services, and Consulting Services team.


Candidates will possess experience enabling discussion of business and technology strategy for driving and supporting Red Rivers Microsoft business with extensive knowledge of Microsoft's licensing programs including:


  • Productivity Suite (M365/O365)

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Cloud Solution Provider (CSP)

  • Microsoft Agreement for Online Services - Government (AOS-G).



Ultimately, the Software Specialist will ensure customer satisfaction through mutually beneficial and reciprocal goals, instigating synergy between Red River and Microsoft. A successful candidate will increase profitability through strategy and increased operational efficiency.



Primary Position Tasks:



  • Ability to understand different Microsoft licensing vehicles, ELA, CSP, Volume, Software Assurance, etc.

  • Support Red River teams in proposal development and quoting of Microsoft licensing

  • Help grow Microsoft business opportunities and develop relationships with Microsoft

  • Support and maximize profitability in the Microsoft licensing programs

  • Support partner and marketing teams for Microsoft partner campaigns

  • Support Microsoft campaigns aligned with software go-to-market strategy

  • Identify unique strategies to differentiate Red River from other competitors

  • Help build repeatable use cases of Red Rivers' Microsoft success

  • Utilize Microsoft optimization reports for new licensing and renewal opportunities

  • Ability to help recommend plans based on product features and functions

  • Achieve and exceed sales goals on regular basis

  • Other business duties as assigned






Additional Tasks may include:



  • Completing training and certifications

  • Providing content for solicitation responses such as RFX's and Statements of Work

  • Support Red River partner team with maintaining compliance with Microsoft partner programs

  • Working with Account teams to deliver customer presentations

  • Other business duties as assigned






Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:



  • BS Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering or other technical degree or equivalent experience.

  • 2 years previous related sales experience with an emphasis on Microsoft

  • Strong senior level communication and presentation skills

  • Successful background that includes complex, executive-level sales execution






Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:



  • BS Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering or other technical degree or equivalent experience.

  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals - MS-900

  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals - AZ-900
