Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY



The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Technician will be responsible for inspecting, sampling and testing of aggregate products to ensure quality during production and shipping. This position will interact with plant and pit operations to resolve any QC issues in a timely manner. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Perform required tests on products as per testing schedule to ensure compliance with specifications during the production and shipping process

  • Take required action to resolve any quality problems in a timely manner

  • Work with aggregate operational/sales staff, management, customers, and government agencies to address and/or resolve issues related to product quality

  • Document testing and maintain accurate testing files

  • Maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility

  • Perform daily area safety inspections as required

  • Perform environmental responsibilities, including but not limited to; monthly water monitoring (DMR), bulk tank inspections, outfall checks, spill response and ensuring SPCC compliance

  • Cross train in Sr. Team Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator positions

  • Other duties as assigned




REQUIREMENTS



  • High School Diploma or equivalency preferred

  • 5 years' experience in the industry preferred




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED



  • Must be knowledgeable in aggregate testing methods and specifications including but not limited to ASTM, TX DOT, USGA

  • Working knowledge of MSHA or OSHA regulations and administrative procedures

  • Ability to work flexible work schedule

  • Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in the English language

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with little or no supervision

  • Computer skills, i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word proficiency. Ability to utilize Internet to do research

  • Ability to relate to employees and managers at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner. This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection

  • Must be able to work up to 16 hours per shift and work days/nights and weekends as required

  • Ability to drive up to 8 hours per day and travel by other means, overnight at times

  • Must be able to climb stairs to a height of 60 ft. and work at this height

  • Ability to walk up to 300 yards over rough, uneven, or cluttered terrain

  • Ability to operate computer, calculator and other office equipment as required

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment

  • Lift up to 80 lbs

  • Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc




WORKING CONDITIONS



  • Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.

  • Will work in varied environments including normal office setting and outdoors (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions).

  • Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants.
