Vertiv is hiring Component Test Technician in Delaware, Ohio who will be responsible to test failed / returned components from the field. The test may include in-circuit testing, in-unit testing, and any other testing required by RCAR process or engineering. The position will collaborate with quality, engineering, Technical Support, supplier quality, and other functional areas in support of RCAR. The position may also require coordination of supplier component analysis as well as field returns.
The Component Test Technician will work in Delaware AC Power Facility RCAR / Code 15 Area. This position will focus on field component returns for RCAR analysis and code 14/15 returns. This position will support RCAR for NA region and will report to Vertiv Services Technical Support Tier 2/3 with dotted line report to AC Power Quality.
Direct support of RCAR Process and component returns from field failures.
Duties include, but are not limited to, physical inspection and the functional inspection of electrical components, the operation of test stations and associated equipment, troubleshooting and determining failure mode of faulty components.
Related functions to include component disassembly, testing, and analysis; report generation; and documentation.
Follow detailed Test scripts and plans provided for analysis of components.
Upload all test results into Parts Return Tracker.
Work with supplier to request RMA, complete supplier component analysis form, packaging, and shipping parts to supplier.
Work with Engineering on test equipment development and perform preliminary inspection and tests.
Perform component in-unit testing when required.
Assist in the day to day activities of Quality Systems - Code 15.
Assist in providing training to associates, evaluating new products and test methodology.
Assist Tech Support and Quality Management in the planning and cultivating of general safety practices among associates.
Perform functional testing of UPS components. The position will be responsible for verifying conformance to all specified requirements.
Perform other related duties as determined by Tech Support / RCAR process.
3+ years of electrical component testing
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Associate Degree in Electronics preferred, or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must possess knowledge of single and 3-phase electrical circuits (high power), and knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuitry.
Prior experience with in-circuit component testing is preferred.
Associates will be required to pass a basic AC/DC fundamentals test with a minimum score that will enable them to be accepted into the Test Tech training program.
Associates must successfully pass the Safety Inventory test.
Associates must possess the ability to work with high voltage in the Power Systems Test area.
Ability to use standard electrical instruments.
Proficient computer skills to be able to work with different software programs in data acquisition and electrical system controls. Ability to learn to use Liebert Enterprise Software as appropriate.
Excellent written and verbal skills are needed.
Maintain regular attendance and have the ability to work in a team environment.
Possess a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
