Job Summary The Sr. Product Safety Compliance Engineer will be located within the Vertiv Corporation's Headquarters in the Columbus OH area and will be part of the Global Regulatory Compliance group reporting into Delaware, OH location. The responsibilities of this position will involve overseeing the day-to-day product safety compliance activities for the AC Power "LOB" line of business. These activities include, "NPD" New Product Development, "ETO" Engineering To Order as it pertains to safety compliance. In addition, this position will also be responsible for sustaining product safety conformance for legacy products, investigation and validation testing. This candidate must also provide guidance on relevant NEC and UL safety testing standards requirements, that is absolutely essential preceding the launch of new products. This knowledge and guidance shall ensure that the product certification investigation has sufficient breadth, depth and agency coverage. Furthermore, this senior level position shall be able to guide Vertiv design engineering department on relevant aspect of product design and its minimum requires to satisfy the requirements that are published by the NFPA, UL, NEMA. In this role you will, be asked to participate (directly or indirectly) on standards and regulatory committees to ensure the AC Power Business is represented.
New Product Conformance:
Direct day-to-day activities of the Global Regulatory Compliance Engineering Group,
Develop and review and approve relevant test plans,
Develop and review test cases,
Develop and review and approve final test reports,
Signoff on product release readiness thorough the NPD process,
Create budgetary and resource plans as it pertains to certification process,
Standardize the test process (tools, techniques, reporting and metrics).
Value Added Engineering
Direct the day-to-day activities with the Compliance Engineers,
Keeping up-to-date technically on standards and regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance to the design engineering team regarding regulatory / compliance requirements.
Oversee AC Power products certification through the life cycle.
Provide lessons learned to the development team via the New Product Development process.
Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
Participate in industry conferences. Monitor government and global regulations and take necessary action.
Interface with the global teams to share and adapt best practices and standard practices around the world.
Coach, teach, and develop associates.
Participate directly and/or indirectly on standards and regulatory committees so make certain that the AC Power Business objectives are represented,
Post all relevant activities, test plans and test reports to the key stakeholders.
B.S. in Electrical Engineering required (M.S. in Electrical Engineering preferred)
10-15 +years of experience Compliance Certification.
Extensive experience developing test plans,
Highly process focused,
Well versed on tools and techniques to properly plan, track test activities and to ensure products are thoroughly tested,
Strong ability to recognize and willingness to investigate and evaluate alternative practices,
Ability to interface with customers and to demonstrate product performance/compliance relative to customer needs,
Strong communication and presentation skills,
Computer literate in MS office Platform including Share point, Oracle and Smartsheets, technical and managerial.
