Position Summary

This position will support the Global Facilities function for the Madison Site and provide leadership in construction project management execution at multiple project scales and delivery methods in an energetic and fast-paced lab and manufacturing environment.

As Construction Manager, you will lead, plan, execute, monitor, and control projects through completion and occupancy according to the specifications and deadlines, all while keeping the project within prescribed budget.

The ideal candidate for this role has proven ability to identify and resolve issues resourcefully and independently, and will work to understand key business drivers, applying this knowledge to decision making.

Specific Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities will be to manage multiple simultaneous construction related projects of various size and complexity in a biotechnology manufacturing environment.

Tasks include:

  • Defining and evaluating the project and stakeholder objectives, contemplating solutions to these criteria,

  • Communicating and managing these objectives with the planners, architect, engineer, and/or general contractor,

  • Creating schedules and overseeing all aspects of project design and quality control throughout the entire project,

  • Delivering the project according to budget and schedule, assessing project risk and performing value engineering,  

  • Engaging and partnering closely with local site leaders to align the regional operational strategy to support business development plans and initiatives

  • Managing both Capital and operational budget and expense accounting for projects including reporting on financial forecast, project accruals, change orders and pay applications,

  • Schedule creation, resource and vendor management, collaboration and oversight on construction and infrastructure projects,

  • Inspecting all work to assure compliance with plans and specifications,

  • Collaborating with internal key stakeholders and managing third-party consultants and vendors,

  • Daily operational support and other duties as needed or assigned.

  • Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications

  • Must understand principles and practices of construction and contract administration, architectural and engineering disciplines and the preparation of diagrams, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.

  • Must work well independently in a highly collaborative environment with minimal direction

  • Must exhibit leadership and decision-making skills and comfort in fast paced environment.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project)

  • Experience with Revit, CAD drafting and Bluebeam advantageous

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills


  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of related experience

  • Field of study or experience in construction management services, engineering preferred
