The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Clinical Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Mapping clinical text to terminologies in the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary (HDD), a terminology server containing a reference terminology integrated from standard and legacy clinical vocabularies.


• Providing HDD content support to 3M HIS end user products applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Natural Language Understanding (NLU) in a clinical setting.


• Identifying relevant clinical data from electronic health record (EHR)  documents.


• Supporting informatics and technical requirements for continuous improvement to the design and content of the HDD, and participating in the construction and maintenance of the HDD software, content and distribution.


• Educating and coordinating HDD use with other 3M HIS departments.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher(completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution OR High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution with a minimum of eleven (11) years of experience in healthcare related or medical informatics disciplines in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree education requirement.


• RHIT/RHIA and/or BSN/RN


• Five (5) years of clinical practice/experience

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Master's degree in biomedical or nursing informatics


• Experience working with clinical terminology standards (e.g. SNOMED CT, LOINC and RxNorm) or in clinical Natural Language Processing (NLP) in healthcare.


• Good communication, oral presentation and writing skills.


• Good analytical and problem-solving ability.


• Ability to work well within a team.

Location: Remote

Travel: May include up to 10%

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
