The primary objectives of the Bus Driver are to: (1) ensure safety and well-being of children at all times, (2) transport children as assigned, and (3) drive and operate bus. The Bus Driver will report to the School Leader.
Transport children (50%)
Transport children to and from school field trips and assist as needed.
Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends.
Drive and operate bus (25%)
Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times.
Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route, report all maintenance and safety issues right away.
Obey all traffic laws and speed signage.
Ensure safety of children, and if necessary discipline children when required.
Create a positive and healthy environment.
Apply first aid as needed.
Pleasant demeanor and an outgoing personality.
Highly professional and dependable.
Ability to use standard office equipment such as a laptop computer and smartphone.
Time Management: Determines priorities and schedules activities, using time effectively by making thoughtful choices about the organization and implementation of tasks.
Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrates a focus on identifying and serving the needs of our students, parents, and peers.
Adaptability: Exercises patience and maintains a calm and positive disposition even in the face of adversity, troubleshooting any complications that arise with flexibility, wisdom, and caring.
Ability to drive multiple routes.
Work flexible hours.
Pass drug and alcohol drug screening
Active medical card.
Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Class B CDL and Passenger Endorsement.
45 hours DCF training.
2+ years' experience working with children.
