Job Description:

The Scripps Networks (a growing portfolio of entertainment and news networks) provides absorbing entertainment and objective, intelligent news as we use our own distribution platforms to serve this unduplicated national audience. We meet the audience where it is with the programs it wants.

 

The Associate Producer is responsible for developing, pitching and producing creative content for a news and/or entertainment show. The associate producer must have an in-depth understanding of production within an entertainment-news environment. 

 

What you'll do:


  • Pitch, develop, direct, and write feature pieces daily


  • Watch live courtroom proceedings and be able to identify the speakers, pull sound, and accurately summarize the testimony and arguments


  • Lead talent and crew for taped video productions by organizing the program elements; including graphics, video and sound, and any necessary components to accomplish the task


  • Responsible for delivering quick-turn, high-priority projects while executing consistently high-quality production value 


  • Works with other staff and production personnel to improve and refine the elements of programs to conform to specific quality standards and time requirements


  • Works with post editors on final production


 

What you'll bring:

Education & Experience/Certifications


  • Bachelor's degree or higher


  • At least 5 years of experience in television production as a show producer with a passion for pop culture, current trends and lifestyle programming


  • Experience producing stories at all stages of development from pitch to air


  • TV news experience preferred


  • Experience with iNews editing system and Final Cut X preferred


Skills & Abilities


  • Must be proficient in shooting, writing, and editing with Final Cut Pro


  • Creative track record demonstrated through an audition reel or prior producing and production projects


  • Strong interviewing and writing skills, the ability to oversee and coordinate all creative elements to support the story including acquiring and clearing footage, scheduling talent, experts, crews, and editors


  • Solid experience writing, booking, story development and strong visual skills


  • Must have solid social media experience and be well connected


  • Excellent and proven writing skills for television news/feature reporting and producing


  • Strong leadership skills to interface with co-workers and our diverse community


  • Must be able to communicate and lead team through daily deadlines and delivery schedules


  • Proven time-management skills


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the internet
