The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Quality Compliance Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. This person will be responsible for quality systems of major importance to the Automotive Aerospace Systems Division. They will maintain and support the execution of the division Quality Management System (QMS) and global coordination and introduction of processes, methods, and tools for the business unit to ensure compliance with Automotive and Aerospace industries, company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Specifically, the Business Unit Quality Systems Specialist will maintain and support the execution of the Quality Management System (QMS) at the site and global coordination and introduction of processes, methods, and tools for the business unit. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Ensure that the Quality System is developed and managed in accordance with requirements of the business, and supports any appropriate industries standards such as IATF16949, VDA, AS9100D, FAA, etc.

  • Identify common processes between multiple sites. Identify best practice and build on this to develop global processes promoting a common approach.

  • Conduct regular reviews of procedures and supporting work instructions to identify and implement process improvements. Ensure all key processes generate objective evidence which can be used to demonstrate that the procedures have been correctly followed.

  • Coach and guide the teams in the requirements of the Quality Management System, and the tools used to implement it successfully.

  • Driving quality systems enhancement to processes that include but are not limited to document and records management, continuous improvement, six sigma, change management, customer complaints, change control, supplier quality management program, APQP process, FMEA tool and process, PPAP process, record and data repository, quality reporting and business unit core tool quality training.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) combined years of experience in a Manufacturing, Production, Quality and/or Laboratory role in a private, public, government or military environment.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.

  • Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

  • Experience in the Automotive and/or Aerospace Industries QMS, including Supplier Management (private, public, government or military)

  • Experience as a Lead Auditor in a manufacturing environment.

  • IATF16949 and German standard: Verband der deutschen Automobilindustrie E.V. (VDA) 6.3 experience preferred, with understanding of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025-Laboratory Accreditation, AS9100.

Location: Maplewood, MN or may consider a remote US work location.

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic and international travel.

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized.

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
