Sr Analyst, Benefits at The E.W. Scripps Company

Job Description:

Primary Purpose

Supports employee benefits in all company operations. May  provide special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans. Understands and is able to explain all benefit plans and benefit polices.

Key Activities


  • Support the Director of Benefits in the administration of all benefit programs for all health and welfare plans.

  • Support the Director of Benefits in the administration of the disability plans.

  • Lead the well-being initiatives and programs, including coordination with our well-being providers and local well-being advocates.

  • Coordinate Tier 3 benefits issue escalation from the Benefit Help Center and ensure dispute resolution.

  • Prepare and review the monthly claims analysis.

  • Aid in the coordination of Summary Plan Descriptions and vendor booklets.

  • Assist with the maintenance of the financial aspects of H&W plans including, monitoring vendor costs and aiding Finance, Audit and Accounting as needed.

  • Assist the H&W benefits communication strategy in conjunction with HR Communications and third parties

  • Test annual enrollment system functionality.

  • Analyze trend reports and assist with issuing management and data collection reporting.

  • Monitor data collection reports and test for accuracy.

  • Coordinate disability program with pension plan, Workers’ Compensation, and employee relations.

  • Assist with dependent/event audits in conjunction with third-party audit vendor.

  • Lead the research, review and response of benefit and dependent audit appeals

Skills

Education & Experience/Certifications


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 2 - 3 years benefit or analytical experience

  • Experience managing large group health and wellness programs desirable

Skills & Abilities


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong customer/client orientation; ability to facilitate discussions to resolve issues

  • and obtain consensus

  • A self-starter with initiative to drive projects and transactions to conclusion

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work and able to work on many task concurrently

  • Strategic thinker

  • Attention to detail

  • Proficient with MS Office, Advance Excel skills essential; experience with data modeling techniques

  • Preferred

  • Knowledge of benefits administration regulations including ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA and COBRA

  • Relevant professional/technical certification
