The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Noise, Vibration, Harshness & Thermal (NVH&T) Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support for the commercial vehicle market. This is an exciting position working in an attractive technical environment. This position requires an individual with strong leadership skills, who is a good decision maker with the ability to collect facts and separate symptoms from problems in the area of NVH&T engineering. Typical development activities will take place in the home office, Acoustic Technology Center and in the field with customers.

  • Technically supporting existing business, providing technical verification to team for new business opportunities, and evaluating competitive threats

  • Providing support for geographic expansion of business

  • Expanding Portfolio for NVH & Thermal and address market adjacencies   

  • Working directly with customer & vendor engineering to provide workable solutions to technical problems

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) years of experience in the field of noise and vibration in a private, public, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Master’s degree in Engineering with significant course/laboratory work in Acoustics, Vibration, & Thermal Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Analytical experience in one or more of the following areas: Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) for vehicular sound system optimization, Computational Thermal Analysis using Coolcalc or Finite Element Analysis utilizing Abaqus

  • Subject matter expertise in vehicle NVH&T along with measurement techniques and vehicle sound package materials optimization

  • Experience with thermal requirements and integration of components in vehicle market

  • Experience in commercial vehicle thermal package design and vehicle manufacturing requirements and quality process

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and international

Relocation Assistance:  May be authorized
