To support our ongoing growth, Woodard & Curran is offering a unique opportunity to assume a leadership role as a Sediment Remediation Practice Leader within our Environmental Remediation Services business, which provides outstanding consulting and remediation services nationwide to industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. The overall objectives of this position are to unite our sediments-focused teams across the company to improve communication, efficiency, and delivery to our clients; support our clients with development and implementation of creative sediment investigation and remediation strategies; guide and support our internal project teams; work closely with related teams including ecological and risk assessment; and advance our technical expertise and visibility in the marketplace to grow our business. What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:

A Practice Leader is highly visible within and outside the firm, is responsible for staying at the forefront of technology in their field of expertise, and contributing to innovation, technical excellence, and efficient project delivery. Specific responsibilities for this opportunity include:


  • Develop and maintain broad knowledge and technical expertise in the field of sediment characterization and remediation, including cutting-edge technical advances and evolving Federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Provide senior leadership within our Environmental Remediation Services business, by providing nationwide support including:

    • Sharing their deep professional expertise with project and management staff and mentoring junior staff.

    • Ensuring innovation and technical excellence of our work and delivered work products.

    • Leading a Sediments Community of Practice that promotes knowledge sharing with other professionals and practices across the firm.



  • Work closely with related practices and practice areas, including risk assessment, ecological services, and remediation engineering.

  • Support visibility and reputation of the firm by:

    • Providing thought leadership within the industry.

    • Participation in national, regional, and local conferences with technical presentations and publications.

    • Service in national and regional professional organizations and associations.

    • Publication of technical research papers, white papers, and social media content.



  • Enhance growth of the firm by:

    • Identifying new market opportunities and positioning Woodard & Curran to capitalize on those new opportunities.

    • Developing and maintaining trusted advisor relationships with clients.

    • Contributing to and leading proposal development with innovative and cost-effective solutions.

    • Supporting client managers and business development leaders with technical sales content, presentations, and other support.

    • Providing input to the business planning process.



What You Will Need to Succeed:


  • A bachelor’s degree, with a higher degree (e.g., master’s degree or Ph.D.) preferred, in engineering, geology, chemistry, or related science.

  • Professional certification and/or licensing if applicable.

  • 15+ years of professional experience serving clients in the environmental industry.

  • Dedicated understanding of and commitment to safe work practices.

  • Deep technical knowledge and experience in design and implementation of complex environmental solutions.

  • Understanding of national (e.g., CERCLA and RCRA) and state environmental regulations.

  • Outstanding leadership abilities to work with a team of experienced professionals from a range of disciplines.

  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated business development abilities.

  • OSHA 40-hour training.
