TEAC - Telephonic Employee Assistance Consultant - EAP at Cigna

Job Description:

The primary roles for the TEAC are consultation and evaluation. The TEAC evaluates the needs of the customer, develops an action plan to improve their situation, completes a clinical assessment when needed, and determines any EAP services to utilize. If the request does not fall within the EAP program, the TEAC makes an appropriate referrals.

Shift: 9:30am-6pm CST

The TEAC Team

The workload is primarily unassigned, scheduled calendar assignments, and shared by the entire team. A team member must be a self-starter, self-motivated and be able to self-manage their caseload. Every TEAC also holds a current independent clinical licensure and is required to hold or obtain a CEAP certification within 2 years of starting with the department.

Responsibilities

The TEAC's main job function is to provide telephonic consultation for employees or their household members who contact the EAP for assistance with a presenting issue or concern. The TEAC helps the customer develop a plan of action to address their issue while blending in a clinical assessment of the customer and offering appropriate Employee Assistance Program Services.

Consult topics are varied but often include the following issues:


  • Job stress and/or change including termination and layoffs

  • Marital/Partner Conflict or Communication

  • Parenting or Family issues

  • Grief and Loss

  • Relocation

  • Substance Use

  • Financial or Legal Stressors

  • Depression/Physical Health /Anxiety

The TEAC may also be assigned special projects by the department manager on an as needed basis including the following possibilities:


  • Training

  • Mentoring new employees who visit TEAC to learn our program

  • operation

  • Development of EAP products

  • Assistance with changes to TEAC work flows and procedures

  • Involvement with CIGNA initiatives and work groups

  • The TEAC primarily interfaces with the following contacts:
    Employees of client companies

    Household members of the employee


    Other employees within CIGNA (Internal Customers)




Managers/HR employees of client companies but only about their personal issues

Qualifications


  • Master's degree in clinical or counseling field

  • Current licensure to practice independently as a mental health professional in the state of employment (LICSW, LMFT, LPC, LPCC, or licensed Psychologist)

  • CEAP required to obtain within 2 years of employment

  • EAP experience strongly preferred, but not required

  • Training and experience in substance use disorders

  • Minimum of 4 years post-masters clinical experience and a demonstrated understanding of multiple therapeutic modalities, including brief therapy, substance abuse approaches, and managed care preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of current principles and practices in employee assistance field

  • Excellent communication, organizational and consultative skills

  • Knowledge and experience in crisis management

  • Customer service orientation and experience

  • Demonstrated assessment and diagnostic skills

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
