JOB SUMMARY Performs metals lab testing procedures and test material processing. Uses material specifications, blueprints, test procedures and inspection plans to insure that test material is compliant to applicable requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Operates spectrometers for chemical analysis.
Tensile testing operations. Operates tensile test machines and calculates the results for compliance to material specifications.
Prepares metallographic samples and is capable in preparing etchant, polishing and demounting samples and making microphotographs.
Takes directions from lab supervisors for work assignments and technical assistance.
Insures that all measuring devices and testing equipment are calibrated and appropriately identified as such.
Identifies all reject able product in the event of a failed test.
Works from engineering drawings, process specifications, customer requirements, equipment manuals, and internal work instructions/procedures.
Provides technical assistance to other lab technicians in following testing procedures.
Ensures that all tests are performed in compliance with applicable standards and specifications (i.e. material specifications, ISO9000, SAE NADCAP, ISO/IEC 17025).
Maintains all required inspection records per procedures.
Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development
Maintain a clean, organized work area
Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures
Ability to work overtime
Attendance
Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required, advanced education is preferred.
Experience: 5 years of experience in a metals laboratory environment.
Certifications/Licenses: N/A
Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good communication skills (written and verbal) in English language. Basic algebra and geometry knowledge. Familiar with operating testing equipment (tensile and chemistry machines, micrometers/calipers, lathes, etc...).
