Job Responsibilities
Lam Research is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and extremely innovative, Managing Director of RF Engineering. This position involves leading a team to develop advanced concepts for RF power delivery and plasma generation for eventual application to Etch and Deposition products in collaboration with internal and external partners.
 
The ideal candidate is expected to demonstrate capability in some or all the following areas: 


  • In-depth knowledge of RF and high voltage DC technologies for semiconductor processing equipment
  • Strategic thinking and product-development talent for innovative designs and disruptive technologies
  • Ability to guide Engineers towards implementation of these designs and technologies through all phases of development
  • Strong organizational skills, creativity, organizational acumen, and leadership skills
  • Hands-on capability with RF technology as applied to plasma processing including

    • Experience with RF generator and match design
    • Metering and RF power measurement circuit design
    • RF filter design
    • Transmission line theory
    • RF sub-system / box level design including interface specifications and margin analysis.
    • Cable harness design, documentation, and fabrication.
    • Practical RF engineering design practices such as shielding, power supplies, RF measurements, calibration techniques and signal analysis.
    • Experience with RF measurement equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, oscilloscopes, etc...

  • Background in Controls as applied to RF products including

    • Architect/lead/manager of embedded system development: analog design, system engineering, control system design, complex PCBA, large scale RTL design Verilog or VHDL, A/D, DSP, FPGA, C/C++, QNX, Xilinx Zynq and Ultrascale running QNX 6.x/7.x, Matlab/Simulink, DSP FFT FIR IIR, SPI, I2C, EtherCAT, Ethernet, RS232

Minimum Qualifications


  • Minimum of MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar with experience in high power RF design.
  • Application to plasma reactor design and understanding of plasma interactions and issues
  • 15+ years of experience in relevant fields.
  • Ability to propose innovative solutions, build a team and drive designs from Concept and Feasibility to high volume manufacturing.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present plans and proposals to Executive management
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art developments and architectures in power electronics
  • Theoretical background in areas of RF/DC, DC/DC power conversion
  • Knowledge of high voltage DC pulse technologies and application
  • Experience with RF metrology, RF metrology tools, equipment, and techniques
  • Experience designing, building and trouble-shooting RF and Plasma systems.
  • Familiarity with plasma physics, plasma modeling and plasma diagnostic methods
  • Understanding of plasma loads and various plasma source technologies
