Job Description
Summary/Objective

Corporate Banking Credit Solutions focuses on late stage companies within SVB's portfolio of businesses. Primary responsibilities will include underwriting / executing debt transactions and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will be able to take on increasing deal execution responsibilities while assisting senior deal team members in all aspects of the deal process. The team provides creative late stage and leveraged capital solutions to Corporate Banking clients in the technology sector.

Essential Functions

Underwriting; Process Management

•Debt process management - manage with VP guidance corporate and leveraged transaction processes from new opportunity introduction from Director/MD to loan closing;

•Due Diligence - review target company provided / publicly available materials, including historical financials, management presentations, CIMs, and 3rd party materials; assist with generating diligence request lists to cover questions arising from review of materials while identifying gaps in provided information;

•Credit Memorandums - create credit memorandums to drive credit approval for new opportunities;

•Prepare financial models accurately based off of company projections;

•Prepare loan packages for approvals, including utilization of existing bank systems;

•Assist in document negotiation;

•Utilizes analysis and independent judgment to generate recommendations to Directors/MDs;

•Assist coordination / execution with Syndications and Relationship Management partners;

•Oversee the loan closing process.

Reporting/Portfolio Management

•Act as lending liaison for portfolio companies with guidance from VP;

•Ensure timely and accurate reporting from portfolio companies;

•Assist any amendment/M&A processes for portfolio companies;

•Research and analyze information as directed;

•Oversee portfolio database as well as quarter portfolio review/analysis.

External / Other Responsibilities

•Coordination with RM partners to develop materials required to evaluate, pitch and execute debt opportunities;

•Participation on diligence calls with prospects and portfolio companies. Takes notes on material updates and opportunities;

•Mentor and train ADP.

Decisions

•Utilizes moderate decision making and independent judgement in negotiations and building relationships. Influences and drive decisions.

•Exercises judgment and authority prudently and with proper balance for the best interests of the clients and SVB.

Recommendations

•Recommends changes/actions related to portfolio and risk management of the existing portfolio with guidance from senior team members.

Knowledge

•Beginning knowledge of late stage lending & leveraged finance, with the ability to collaborate on the legal doc negotiation and assist on the loan closing process.

•Ability to track and manage the portfolio to maintain covenant and credit policy compliance.

Skills

•Work highly proficient at researching information and gathering pertinent items to identify trends / anomalies.

•Extremely adept at understanding and interpreting requests.

•Strong understanding of financial accounting with financial modeling experience.

•Strong organization and attention to details ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.

•Proven ability / highly skilled at developing strong positive relationships with external clients / internal partners.
