Job Description:

Technica is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team. This opportunity will expose you to all areas of general accounting for a growing company in the government contracting industry.

The Staff Accountant performs traditional general accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and general ledger

  • Performs traditional general accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, payroll analysis, general ledger, month-end closings, and any accounting support tasks in the accounting department.
  • Verifies the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records including detailing financial business transactions (e.g., invoice approvals, disbursements, expense vouchers, wire payments, and business transactions such as funds received and disbursed).
  • Provides customer service support to internal clients, suppliers, and customers.
  • Reconciles bank and financial statements/reports. Investigates questionable data and recommends actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Maintains files, including filing of general ledger journal vouchers, accounts payable documentation, and other miscellaneous filings.
  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and support the preparation of financial reports.
  • Reviews various processes to identify opportunities for improvement and automation, and supports the implementation of those enhancements
  • Interacts with banking partner for document upload, to include initiation of wires and ACHs



Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field and at least 2 years experience relevant to the position OR combination of required skill sets and 5+ years experience relevant to the position
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of Government Contracting Experience in Costpoint
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Costpoint SME
  • Experience using COGNOS and COGNOS Report Writers
  • Familiarity processing timesheets and payroll using a third-party processor
