Hattiesburg, MS Opportunity
A co-op in this role will be utilizing learned skill sets, school training, and applying technical knowledge to a high paced production environment where product quality, cost effectiveness, Safety, and Production requirements all interact to produce a product. All of this learning, data gathering, and report submission will funnel through the engineering mentor that is assigned to each co-op. A typical term in the engineering field will include 1-2 major projects (based on size and complexity) and a few smaller projects in which simple test qualifications would be performed.
Document the manufacturing processes using the operation certification process.
Assist in the daily support of part manufacturing or engine assembly.
Perform capability studies on manufacturing processes to include part measurement and data analysis.
Update job instructions and other process documentation.
Analyze process information to identify root causes and implement actions for improvement.
Design quote and purchase project related items.
Determine manufacturing cell layouts or overall plant layouts.
Identify and implement ergonomic improvements.
Use CAD software for designing and detailing.
Support design verification testing including writing laboratory work requests overseeing test progress and providing direct involvement in test activities.
At completion of tests prepare summary documentation including conclusions and recommendations. Communicate results to design engineers.
Maintain project records; prepare technical reports on completed tasks document data and reports in Engineering Archive.
Work with other engineers and technicians to coordinate design engineering activities for timely achievement of product development goals.
Personally demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies.
Progress toward degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
Must be a full-time student
