Johnson Controls’ Wichita operation designs, builds and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year. Johnson Controls Wichita builds and assembles some of the biggest HVAC brands in the industry, including York, Luxaire, Coleman, Champion and Guardian.

The primary manufacturing campus sits on 63 acres with a total of 1.3 million square feet. It has also translated into large employment growth in Wichita, where its workforce is around 1,600 employees which is up nearly 22 percent year over year. The Wichita manufacturing facility is the largest non-aircraft manufacturing plant in Wichita.

What you will do

The Lean Implementer is responsible for the implementation of lean manufacturing by completing projects and training those who participate in lean events. This position takes ownership for the effective and timely application of lean tools and principles through the exercise of project management skills. This position also involves completing six sigma projects reducing variation in manufacturing processes. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

How you will do it


  • Lead lean projects and facilitate cross-functional teams to apply lean principles and tools.

  • Involve shop floor personnel in Kaizen events and trains them in the use of CI tools. 

  • Prepare detailed plans, drive project performance and assure timely completion of product/process improvement using standard tracking and reporting systems.

  • Establish impact on operational cost and departmental expense budgets.

  • Assist in the gathering and reporting of JCMS assessment data.

  • Perform value-stream-mapping, current and future state.

  • Complete Six Sigma Projects reducing variation in processes.

  • Work with High Performance Teams on the shop floor to complete waste walks and improvement actions.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

What we look for

Required:


  • Associate degree or an equivalent combined education and experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Engineering or Operations Management within a lean manufacturing environment.

  • Solid understanding of the application of lean principles.

  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite.

  • Must become certified by Johnson Controls as a Lean Implementer within one year from start date.

Preferred:


  • Bachelor’s degree.
