Group Lead Polish Operator at II-VI Incorporated

Job Description:

Basic Function of the Job:

Performs a wide variety of polishing and wafer fabrication tasks in support of the production process, and volume manufacturing processes. Responsible for the oversight of machinery and operators of both CMP and 1st Polish Areas, according to Manufacturing Specifications. Responsible for the operation and light maintenance of equipment including: Hoffman Polishers, Gigamat Polishers, Crest Bench and Spray Solvent Tools. Must have necessary computer skills; including office and database experience necessary to carry out the task at hand. Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work station according to 5S Practices. Responsible for helping Shift Supervisor ensure manufacturing procedures are being followed by all operators in both production rooms, maintaining II-VI Quality Standards. Supports the scaling of polishing capabilities to keep pace with ever changing production and customer order levels. Contributes to the continuous improvement of polishing capabilities to an industry leadership position. Responsible for the accurate and up to date entry of data at all stages of the polish process to ensure internal customers receive their material on schedule. Able to intervene and prioritize operator activities to ensure on time delivery of materials to downstream operations. Participates in Advanced Materials Environmental, Health and Safety activities.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:


  • 2-3 years of production experience in semiconductor processing

    • 1-2 years of polishing experience


    • Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others.
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities involving external and internal priorities.
    • Experience with problem analysis and resolution
    • Experience with precision measurement methods and systems
    • Ability to read and understand customer specifications and process procedures
    • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement
    • Experience with networked PC based computer system (spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems)
    • ITAR compliance requirement: Individual must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

    Special Skills:



    • Broad, practical knowledge of semiconductor wafer fabrication and hands-on experience in the polish room operations, database activities, and good working knowledge of manufacturing procedures of both polishing tool sets.
    • Well-honed observational skills that enable the rapid identification of operating problems/abnormalities
    • Ability to train new or inexperienced operators or technicians to operate polishing equipment and polish processes.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams
    • Knowledge of and ability to work effectively with internal database system, and data entry systems to inspect and analysis wafers for poor yielding issues.
    • Ability to work in a cross-cultural, team based environment
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
