Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer (Night Shift) will be based in Austin, TX. The Manufacturing Engineer will leverage their experience to implement best practices for processes and procedures associated with high-speed automated manufacturing lines.  This engineer will directly support SMT factory activities. This engineer will work not only with the Flex Austin team but also with the customer’s team and with the equipment manufacturers’ personnel.

Shift: 6pm to 6am -  3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, and 3 days off schedule

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
•    Yield, Cycle Time, and other Process Improvement studies 
•    Support equipment installation and validation
•    Actively involved in executing IQ, OQ, PQ
•    Provide direct support to manufacturing once manufacturing lines are validated and production begins to maintain OEE targets


  • Initiate and follow through on proposed changes to Equipment, Materials, and Processes through the organization of all required internal and customer-defined change control documentation and approvals.

  • Technical lead for fast response and escalation for process/equipment issues in pre-production and Production

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
•    Manufacturing Engineering, related degree, or equivalent experience
•    Experience with hands on support of a manufacturing line
•    Outstanding Communication with Customers and other Cross-Functional Teams – with the ability to manage expectations and influence in a positive and confident manner

  • Self-starter with ability to pick up and learn new technologies, Processes, and Equipment in a short period of time

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:
•    Surface Mount Technology (SMT) experience

5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer, with 3+ years in the medical industry, automotive, or aerospace


  • High-speed automation experience 

  • Experience working in an ISO13485 and 21CFR environment

  • Experience with Minitab preferred

  • IPC-A-610 cert or expertise
