Job Description:



The Systems Engineer is responsible the day to day management and issue resolution of monitored customer networks. The incumbent is responsible for the continuous monitoring and management of the customer networks to ensure alarm receipt and processing procedures are followed. Responsible for the generation of customer reports as well the delivery and management of customer network changes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Test circuits, service features, trunking and equipment to make sure they are operating effectively or to determine where problem is and solution to problem. Configure, test and maintain LAN/WAN equipment and related services.

  • Troubleshoot AD replication issues, tombstones, site configurations. Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.

  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. Setup new Exchange users mailboxes and apply system policies.

  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Identify, diagnose and resolve network problems.

  • Manage and coordinate the resolution action directly with the customer. Maintain and support company's LAN/WAN environment.

  • Proactively monitor the company networks to detect and resolve problems and ensure uninterrupted operations of the networks. Plan, evaluate and execute network maintenance activities.

  • Establish effective levels of communication with the user community including; problem resolution, network cabling errors, and scheduling.

  • Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades and routine hardware configuration.

  • Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors.

  • Maintain an advanced and current level of technical knowledge and skills involving networking design, implementation and troubleshooting use in communications network cabling.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Four (4) year college degree, preferred or equivalent experience (10-15 years) in related field.

  • Minimum four (4) Cisco, Microsoft or approved manufacturer certifications. (CCNP, MCSE).

  • Familiarity with: remote circuit, trunking equipment monitoring and testin.g

  • Knowledge of concepts and use of network management toolsets.

  • Trouble ticketing, service orders and account information gathering.

  • Excellent customer service skills required.

  • Knowledge of data and/or voice transport technologies, topologies, standards and infrastructure are required.

  • Knowledge of Router management and troubleshooting.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (Outlook, Work and Excel a must) required.

  • Experience using ERP, trouble-ticketing and service management systems, preferred.

  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment.

  • Ability to travel 20%.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
