The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Mechanical Tech will safely install, maintain, repair, move, replace, modify, troubleshoot, diagnose, adjust, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on industrial and commercial equipment

As a Mechanical Tech, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic equipment

  • Maintaining pumps, performing pipefitting, millwright tasks, basic machining, welding and fabrication and preventative maintenance tasks

  • Creating a culture of safety and compliance in the production environment through preventative maintenance and repairing critical equipment

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:


  • Possess a two (2) year, Technical degree or diploma from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start).

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience installing, repairing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment in a private, public, government, or military environment.

  • Ability to perform basic machining, fabrication, welding, pipefitting, and millwright tasks

  • Working a 12-hour night shift (on a “4 crew” schedule)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Robotic Trouble Shooting Experience with Fanuc and Kuka robots

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic equipment to include PLC’s, sensors, and operator interface stations

  • Experience in an Industrial Maintenance type setting

  • Knowledge of Boiler Operations

  • Wisconsin Plumber’s License
