Determine and set daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing schedules. This role requires superior organization and planning skills. Production planners will examine customer orders, available staff and inventory, as well as machinery capabilities to effectively set and manage production schedules for multiple production lines. Monitor manufacturing performance and actively adjust schedules in response to customer change requests, equipment downtime or supply shortages. Candidate will also be responsible ordering designated raw materials and packaging for the plant in which they are assigned. Perform ad-hoc reporting related to capacity, inventory, and delivery as required.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Production Planning:
Develop and revise production schedule based on customer demand and plant capacities.
Check current raw material inventory for production requirements.
Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed.
Assist Sales with order sizes and revisions.
Perform capacity analysis on new and existing business.
Inventory Management:
Maintain desired levels of customer finished goods.
Monitor inventory and reorder levels of materials as assigned.
Assist Sales and Operations in the prevention and disposition of obsolete inventory and aging items.
Assist with New Product Introduction and product life cycle management as it pertains to scheduling and inventory.
Purchasing:
Place vendor purchase orders using ERP system.
Schedule deliveries of raw materials and packaging to meet production and inventory target requirements.
Ensure proper paperwork accompanies products delivered (i.e. Certificate of Analysis, Bill of Lading, Truck Seal Numbers, Purchase Order Numbers, Etc.)
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required).
Education level:
High School Diploma Required. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college Preferred
Experience:
Two plus years manufacturing experience in planning, scheduling, materials management or purchasing.
Above average Microsoft Excel skills.
Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems highly desired.
