Position Description:
Provide development support and maintenance for the Air Force Financial Management Tools Suite (AFMTS)modules. Update modules usingASP.net, ajax,JavaScript, and VB 6.0. Administer MS SQL Server databases and stored procedures. MaintainImport/Export processes and database jobs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition, to include future generations of SQL server
Provide database-management support
Perform weekly system backups
Load or export data into/from the database to/from flat files and other sources
Perform system optimization and improvement planning for SQL Server database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing, ongoing maintenance, database tuning, database validation, and reorganization
Design, implement, and participate in disaster recovery and contingency planning procedures as well as the testing of database backups and recoveries on a yearly basis
Generate scripts to simplify and automate regular database maintenance, such as index rebuilds, analyze and backup procedures, upon identification of an inefficiency
Correct all database problems related to AFMTS functionality and performance issues, to include interfaces to databases, web application bugs and logical errors, within three (3) hours of notification
Select and employ relational database management tools to simplify the monitoring and support of SQL Server databases and other relational databases
Provide technical guidance and customer support in the resolution of problems related to relational databases
Perform conversion of any/all applicable Microsoft Access databases to Microsoft SQL Server databases
Maintain and/or develop code to support financial analysis, rate building, and conducting "what-if" scenarios
Provide prototypes of proposed solution for new system requirements as required
