What you will do:

Responsible for research, development, and new fan product implementation, mechanisms, electrical circuits, and existing design adaptations for commercial and industrial HVAC products and parts.

How you will do it: 


  • Design, fabricate, test, and evaluate new products and existing product per design criteria defined by Project Management, Sales and Product Marketing Department.

  • Create part, assembly, and drawing files in SolidWorks software for HVAC products, including the use of VBA to automate the creation of SolidWorks files.

  • Help Quality Assurance and Sales/Marketing for the investigation of field complaints.

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design specifications are maintained, eliminate waste, recommend design changes, and evaluate process improvements.

  • Test, evaluate and compare competitor’s products, materials, design, performance, and application.

  • Review preliminary performance data, costing, production requirements, and scheduled milestone/completion dates during feasibility stage for new product implementation.

  • Interface with clients, engineers, architects, procurement, and manufacturing by answering questions regarding Commercial and Industrial fan lines.

  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised on new developments in technology, tools, and resources.  This may include participation in AMCA, UL, DOE, ASHRAE and AHRI committees.

  • Work with procurement department to identify, qualify, and approve vendors and outside sources for purchased components, including the creation of engineering specifications.

  • Generate of technical reports, graphs, and marketing illustrations to define/illustrate systems performance and operating characteristics.

  • Maintain and support project Gantt charts controlled by Project Managers.

  • Follow and comply with company work and safety rules.

Education and/or Experience                                                    

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University, and one to three years of hands on SolidWorks experience is required.  Three to Five years of experience working directly on new Product Implementation preferred on a staged gate project system.  Experience with Autodesk Revit, VBA, and experience with sheet metal forming and fabrication, air movement principles and fan/blower laws a plus.

Communication Skills                                                   

A candidate must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, and agency standards. They must also possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions, effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills                                                       

A candidate must possess the ability to calculate values such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, air flow, heat transfer, and sound power by applying concepts from algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, differential equations, and physics.

Reasoning Ability                                                           

A candidate must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. They must also be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills                                                               

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency with MS Office products, an understanding of Autodesk Revit, and show proficiency with SolidWorks including automating designs within SolidWorks using VBA. Experience with AS400 is a plus.

Other Qualifications                                                     

Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time to respective manufacturing locations in the US and Mexico to perform quality audits and follow up on the production of products.
