AT&T has an opening for a GOVT LEAD SR SPEC SFTW DES ENG to support the AZ Program in providing software design and implementation for a government customer.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:   

  • Architect, design, develop, test, deploy, and support custom software solutions operated in a large, geographically distributed enterprise. 
  • Understand complex site architectures and the unique challenges at each location and leverage this knowledge to help shape modernization activities for sites. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand application needs, and design and implement solutions that fit within program constraints.  Development work requires proficiency in key technical areas such as web interfaces, databases, and various programming languages including java, perl and python.
  • Remain abreast of advances in technology, changes in the operating environment, and other external factors that influence the operational system, and leverage this information to optimize system performance as well as to suggest possible architectural and/or application changes needed to keep the system performing efficiently and effectively.
  • Reverse-engineer existing software and take ownership as needed to enhance and/or diagnose problems/issues. 

Required Clearance:     TS/SCI with poly (#polygraph)     

Required Qualifications: The candidate must have 10+ years of experience in designing and developing complex software applications, working independently to swiftly meet user needs.  Must have experience the following languages: Java, Shell scripting, Perl, Python, and SQL.  Must have experience coalescing data from various sources/formats into usable/actionable web pages and reports to support decision making by the user community.  Must have experience with common development tools including software versioning and packaging.   Must have a solid understanding of telecom transport protocols such as SONET, Ethernet, and OTN.  Must possess working knowledge of Solarwinds and have experience retrieving and using data from a SW database.  Must be self-motivated and capable of working independently, but also willing to collaborate and seek assistance when needed.  Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, master’s degree preferred.

Desired Qualifications:  Working knowledge of optical switches.  Familiarity with optical networking challenges such as power budgets and other factors that influence route/path planning.  Experience working in an agile environment that requires frequent interaction with the user community.
