Summary of Job:

This position is responsible for performing residential HVAC maintenance and/or service at the journeyman level. Technician will be primarily responsible for performing installs, repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including: refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, furnaces, humidifiers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide excellent customer service to residential customers

  • Respond timely to daily residential HVAC service dispatched calls

  • Perform maintenance on conventional and semi-advanced systems at the customers’ home

  • Perform leak detection, evacuation, recovery, and recharging

  • Perform limited refrigeration repairs / evaporator coils

  • Perform ductwork repairs, such as patching holes and reconnecting

  • Diagnose and/or replace OEM parts other than truck stock during a planned or demand service call

  • Educate and advise customers of system operation and properly explain needed repairs found

  • Ensure vehicle cab and cargo area is clean, neat and organized

  • Utilize company technology and individual technical capability to provide a great experience to our residential customers

  • Meet predetermined sales lead goals, revenue targets and warranty

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to handle stress and job demands

  • Must be able to cooperatively work with others

Education and Experience:


  • High School diploma or equivalent GED preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in a combination of HVAC Install/Service

  • EPA Certification

  • Able to pass a background screening and pre-employment drug test

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Skills and Abilities:


  • Understands proper operation and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment and electronics of system

  • Able to troubleshoot and repair basic piping systems, to include copper, plastic, and carbon steel

  • Knowledge of soldering and brazing techniques

  • Knowledge of duct systems and air quality equipment

Individuals may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for 2 or more hours at a time depending on position.

Individuals working at an outside job site may be exposed to varying temperatures including very hot (above 90 degrees F) or very cold (below 32 degrees F) and all-weather conditions.

Individuals may be exposed to: cramped work spaces, contaminants, extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls.  Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day.  Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently.  The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

Individuals may occasionally be exposed to hazardous conditions, high places and /or hazardous equipment.  May work with or around chemicals that require knowledge of a safety data sheet.
