Summary:

This position is responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, repairing and reassembly of both low and high pressure reciprocating equipment and their related components. Repairs are carried out per standards and procedures where details and accuracy in measurement and documentation are required. Components repaired often include, but are not limited to the following: compressor cylinder bodies, piston and rod assemblies, packing boxes, valves and other miscellaneous items that operate in arrangement with the unit. This person will perform comprehensive inspections on the components, is capable of producing accurate measurements and has a sharp awareness to detail.

Responsibilities:


  • Reviews the incoming repair and gathers all applicable documentation, tooling and equipment.

  • Understands the standards and procedures prior to commencing repairs, follows proper sequencing and recognizes the critical benchmarks when data and other pertinent information need to be documented and noted.

  • Works from drawings, blueprints, sketches, standards and procedures.

  • Executes necessary cleaning of components to remove debris and finalize the initial as-found conditions.

  • Performs all visual and dimensional examinations during disassembly and accurately records all key data.

  • Operates necessary tooling and equipment to process component repairs.

  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to use all measuring equipment including scales, o.d., i.d. and depth micrometers and calipers, dial indicators, thread and gage blocks.

  • Follows through and is constantly attentive to all details. Works with the leadership team to identify necessary repairs observed outside the stated work scope and communicates nonconformities to the appropriate team leader; applies experience to develop and implement repair strategies.

  • Handles, cleans, assembles and performs all pertinent inspections at relevant stages during reassembly.

  • Completes all documentation of as-found and as-released inspections.

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with EPA and OSHA standards and regulations.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for this position; must be willing to work extra hours and weekends as required to meet deliveries and customer expectations.

  • Has the ability to work positively and cordially with others, remains open to ideas and is willing to try new things and be exposed to all facets within the repair center.


  • Will be asked to perform local pickup and delivery duties as required to support the shop and projects as they progress through the facility. A clean driving record is mandatory.


    Skills:



  • Proven ability to operate both manual and power driven tools and machine shop equipment required to perform the repair tasks assigned; physically able to perform the mechanical duties required which does require manual handling and finishing of components.

  • Able to read written standards and drawings as well as accurately measure and present all data effectively.

  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; meets or exceeds commitments to both employer and customers.

  • Good problem solving and organizational ability; uses time effectively and efficiently.

  • Self-directed and detail oriented, understands the repair processes and is able to work without continuous oversight.

    Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English.

  • Minimum 3-4 years' experience with reciprocating compressor equipment exposure and component repair required.

  • Some computer experience preferred.

  • Experience with high pressure exposure and component repair highly desirable.

Mental / Visual / Physical Effort:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity-far, acuity-near, depth perception and field of vision.

Physical Hazards:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is continuously standing, repetitively grasping and repetitively using fine manipulation with the hands.

  • May be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist as well as repetitively push or pull

  • Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (eight hours per day minimum)

Working Conditions:


  • This position is performed in a shop environment.

  • May be exposed to loud operating machinery, varying temperatures, chemicals and vapors
